Vermont camping, campgrounds & rv parks

He everyone, boy have I been busy! Summer is the time of year when so much is going on. It’s also the best time for camping in Vermont. Vermont has many campgrounds & RV parks. You can find very simple ones that are just for tents, to fully equipped ones that can handle 40 ft. RV’s with pools, snack bars, full hookups and more.
Now you have two kinds of Vermont campgrounds, private campgrounds and state campgrounds. Private ones have more amenities on average, with full hookups and other things to make life easier. They also tend to cost more. Most of them are just a spot for your tent or RV, not really in any big woods that you can walk to and explore.
State campgrounds are in a park or a forest. They can be just a bare spot for your tent, to full hookups for RV’s. Normally you can walk from your spot and go hiking, fishing, hunting and so on. A lot are on a lake or even Lake Champlain, the 7th largest lake in the USA. Most spots are cheaper than the private campgrounds, but most don’t have as many amenities.
Some Vermont campgrounds also offer cabins you can stay in. They can be simple rooms to ones with full kitchens and bathrooms. Of course, most all Vermont campgrounds offer a place to start a campfire, with firewood you can take over to your spot. In some campgrounds the firewood is free, others charge a small fee.
There’s nothing better than starting your morning with pancakes sizzling on the campfire, with that great pure Vermont maple syrup poured over them! Lots of campgrounds have a little store where you can buy lots of basic things. Most have some Vermont maple syrup you can buy.
The people that run Vermont campgrounds are a friendly bunch that will give you lots of advice on how to enjoy your camping experience and tips on what to do. One of the most important pieces of advice I can give you is, buy and use plenty of insect repellent! Vermont woods are teeming with mosquito’s and no see ems that will eat you alive without some bug spray.
Get some good OFF or other popular bug sprays and spray it around your tent, doors to your RV and any screens. Spray it on your clothes, arms, legs and hair to really keep them off. As for the weather, Vermont can have warm and even hot days, but almost always it gets cool in the evenings. So bring lots of layers you can wear.
Vermont camping in the fall is a very beautiful time, with all those leaves a red, yellow and orange. Lots of campers also have bikes and enjoy great biking trips on the country roads. You can find plenty of places to rent bikes, canoes and other sporting equipment.
For a list of all the Vermont state camping grounds,go to the Vermont State Parks website. For a list of lots of private camping grounds, check out the Vermont Campground Association. So come on up to Vermont and enjoy a Vermont campground with a tent or your RV. Just remember before you leave to pick up some of that pure Vermont maple syrup so enjoy at home!
