Stowe Vermont, vacation resort town

If there’s anything at all that you may have heard about Vermont, most likely it had something to do with Stowe, Vermont. Stowe has been named the ski capitol of the east, with many ski trails off Mt. Mansfield, the states highest mountain. But Stowe is also a year long resort town, with many things to do and see.
Stowe is about a 40 minute drive north from Burlington, Vt. The international airport is located in Burlington, so most tourist land there first. Despite Stowe being such a tourist hot spot, it still is a small town with wide open country and woods to relax in, while still having all the big resort amenities.
Stowe has many world class resorts, bed & breakfast Inns, condos, hotels and even cabins you can rent. Stowe is also home to the Van Trapp family lodge, a magnificent Inn that is owned by the family “the sound of music” movie was based on. From camping to five star resorts, Stowe has it all.
So what is there to do in Stowe, Vermont? Well it would be easier to say what you can’t do! Stowe has many beautiful hiking and biking trails through the rolling hills, woods and over streams. It has golf courses, horseback riding, hot air ballooning, fishing, nightclubs, luxury spas plus many other things.
The fall foliage season is very popular, with the mountains turning gold, red and yellow. There are many country roads to sight see by car or bike, as well as tour buses. Seeing deer, raccoons and turkeys is common. Stowe has many very fine restaurants, all serving some of Vermont’s pure produce made right here, including of course pure Vermont maple syrup.
Down the road a bit you can take a tour of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, which started their company right here. Also you can see how fine chocolates are made at the Vermont chocolate factory. Be sure to sample both the ice cream and chocolates that are flavored with that great Vermont maple syrup!
But winter is when skiing in Stowe, Vermont really kicks in, attracting thousands of skiing buffs from around the world. Stowe has many miles of ski trails that you get to both with chair lifts and gondolas. They have everything from bunny trails to black diamond trails. You also can cross country ski, snowshoe, snowmobile, go on a horseback ride and more.
Each morning you can wake up and eat some of those hot Vermont pancakes or waffles with that great pure Vermont maple syrup poured over it! If your here during the spring you can even take a tour of a working maple sugar house and watch how that maple syrup is made, taking a still hot jug of maple syrup with you.
